PROFESSIONAL BIO:
Steve is a highly experienced trainer who has been working in the fitness industry for over six years. Steve worked as a fitness instructor and duty manager in Carlisle Health and Fitness for three and a half years before becoming an independent personal trainer. He worked in Castleview Fitness prior to that as a fitness instructor and class instructor.
His training style is originally based on training for martial arts and weight training for bodybuilding. He is a freestyle trainer as he uses various methods of training in order to achieve results with his clients.
Steve is a big believer in mixing up training, and places clients on planned training programmes initially. He then progresses them on to freestyle training routines. He also likes to use free weights and free-motion movements with his clients, and is a big believer in progression of training. Steve says one must always train harder gradually over time in order to continually improve.
Steve is a highly motivational trainer, and has a great scientific understanding of how the body works with regards to exercise. As a trainer he says the most important thing when training his clients is that they enjoy their training sessions. Steve’s opinion is if his clients enjoy their workout they will exercise consistently and will train much harder, thus reaching their goals in minimum time.
PERSONAL BIO:
Steve loves to workout himself and has been training consistently for 12 years with weights and in many styles of martial arts. He trained as a bodybuilder for many years but decided never to compete, instead he now focuses his training towards having a fit, functional body.
Steve has experienced a wide range of martial arts including; Shotokan and American Kenpo Karate, Jeet-Kun-Do, American Kickboxing and Muay Thai, Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Boxing, Freestyle Wrestling, Submission Grappling and MMA. He also enjoys Kenjutsu which is the Japanese art of the sword, and he shoots rifles from time to time at a local gun club.
Steve's hobbies include writing movie scripts and comic book style stories when he is not coaching or writing about fitness. Steve has also formally done some commercial modelling. The Irish Independent has also published an article about Steve and his personal training business.
Steve is currently reading "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Mushashi.
